Japanese brand AfternoonTea grocery restaurant exits Taiwan

Recently, amid fierce competition in the gourmet dining and grocery sectors, some store locations have reportedly seen less than ideal sales. Nevertheless, they continue to offer black tea and handmade grocery experience workshops, allowing consumers who love Japanese lifestyle aesthetics and Afternoon Tea to cultivate their lifestyle tastes in different ways.
Considering the market environment and operational conditions, the Japanese side has decided not to renew the contract. The current partnership agreement is set to expire at the end of July, although contract durations vary for different department store locations. Various branches are scheduled to gradually exit Taiwan by the end of 2018, with the specific closing times for all 15 stores across Taiwan to be further announced by Uni-President Afternoon Tea.
