Weekly Weather Forecast: Temperatures Rising and Clearing Up with Showers in Some Areas

In the early morning of the 15th, due to radiative cooling, temperatures remain relatively low across the region, with large day-night temperature differences; there are brief showers in the eastern half of Taiwan and Matsu, as well as localized brief showers in the northern areas. Other regions, as well as Penghu and Kinmen, will be mostly cloudy to sunny. There is a probability of long-period swells along the eastern and southeastern coasts of Taiwan (including Green Island and Orchid Island) and the coastal areas of the Hengchun Peninsula. A strong wind advisory over the sea has also been issued for the 15th, so extra caution is advised if you plan to visit the seaside.

Starting from the 15th, temperatures begin to rise. On Tuesday, Taipei’s maximum temperature is expected to reach 24°C, while central areas will hit their peak heat on Wednesday, also reaching up to 24°C. Southern areas will be warmest on Thursday, with the highest temperatures climbing to 26°C. After reaching their peaks, temperatures in western parts of the island will gradually begin to drop again. Eastern regions will remain between 18–22°C throughout the week. In Kinmen and Penghu, temperatures will be between 13–17°C, while Matsu will be cooler, ranging between 11–14°C.

After the second half of Thursday, the weather is expected to become unsettled with increasing chances of brief showers. On Friday and Saturday, the areas north of central Taiwan, including Yilan and Hualien, will experience cloudy to partly cloudy skies with intermittent showers. For those planning trips over the weekend, it’s advisable to bring rain gear for destinations expecting rain. Everyone should also be mindful of large day-night temperature variations and take care to avoid catching a chill.
