38 Travel Agencies to Avoid During Summer Vacation Trips

With the peak summer travel season approaching, to protect the rights and interests of tourists, the Tourism Bureau of the Ministry of Transportation and Communications has announced the operational status of travel agencies from January 10, 2017 (106/1/10) to June 23, 2017 (106/6/23), in accordance with Article 43 of the Development of Tourism Act. A list of travel agencies that require attention and should be avoided is provided for consumer reference, helping to prevent disputes over travel products and itineraries, which could harm your rights and interests.
Summer is the peak travel season, and many travel agencies offer a variety of packages and promotions, so careful selection is advised.
I. Four Travel Agencies Whose Licenses Have Been Revoked:
(1) Shin Wang Ai (Taipei City, announced by the Travel Quality Assurance Association of the Republic of China [hereinafter referred to as the QA Association] as having withdrawn from membership without replenishing the required bond)
(2) Die Lian Hua (Taipei City, operated beyond the approved business scope and provided travel services that significantly harmed the life, body, or property of tourists)
(3) Hwa Tai (Kaohsiung City, announced by the QA Association as having withdrawn from membership without replenishing the required bond)
(4) Jin Yun (Taipei City, the company has been suspended for more than six months without reporting)
II. Sixteen Travel Agencies That Have Applied for Dissolution: K&P (Taipei City), Excellence (Taipei City), Orange Yi (Taipei City), Shangbo International (Taipei City), Anjiang International (Taipei City), Yongfa (Taipei City), Ju Hang (Taipei City), Wan Hua International (Taipei City), Sen Hui (Taipei City), National International (Taipei City), Laifu International (Taipei City), Dongxu (New Taipei City), Yousong International (Taoyuan City), Yichang (Taoyuan City), Liming (Taoyuan City), Jinjin (Kaohsiung City).
III. Seven Travel Agencies That Have Not Purchased Performance Bond Insurance: FreeWeb (Taipei City), Sheng Yun International (Taipei City), Ju Xing (Taipei City), Xiang Tai (Taipei City), Zhi Jian (Taoyuan City), Tai Cheng (Taichung City), Meijianan (Kinmen County).
IV. Two Travel Agencies Ordered to Suspend Business:
(1) Lian Hua (Taipei City, due to financial difficulties posing a risk to consumer property)
(2) Yuan Ding (Kaohsiung City, due to financial difficulties posing a risk to consumer property)
V. Nine Travel Agencies That Have Voluntarily Applied for Temporary Suspension of Business (these agencies must apply for resumption upon expiration of the suspension period): Ya Xiang (suspended until 2018/1/19, Taipei City), Mei Zhao (suspended until 2018/2/14, Taipei City), Ming Liang (suspended until 2018/3/24, Taipei City), Sheng Feng (suspended until 2018/5/4, Taichung City), Ya Lv International (suspended until 2018/5/31, Taipei City), Jun Jing (suspended until 2018/6/5, Taipei City), Jia Long (suspended until 2018/6/9, Kaohsiung City), Teng Da (suspended until 2018/6/12, Kaohsiung City), Yuan Guan International (suspended until 2018/6/20, Lienchiang County).
The Tourism Bureau of the Ministry of Transportation and Communications reminds tourists to pay attention to the following when participating in travel activities organized by travel agencies or purchasing international flight tickets:
I. When joining a tour group, it is safer to choose a legally licensed travel agency to sign a travel contract, and to confirm that the person you are dealing with is a qualified tourism industry professional. Information on legally licensed travel agencies, tourism professionals, certified tour leaders and guides, tips for joining tour groups, and the above-mentioned list of agencies can be found in the Consumer Protection section of the bureau’s Administrative Information Network.
