Taipei Riverside Music Festival’s Dadaocheng Lovers' Day Reaches a Climax

The annual "Taipei Riverside Music Festival" is back again, and this highly acclaimed event has added even more features this year. From the 17th until August 12th (postponed in case of rain), there will be activities every Saturday afternoon, including enjoying music at the riverside park, exploring markets, joining themed events, and this year also features a stamp-collecting lucky draw. As for the most anticipated "Dadaocheng Lovers' Day" each year, it will still grandly take place on the Saturday before Qixi (August 26th). This year, it specially invites Golden Chih-Yuan (A-Wu) and Matzka to deliver high-energy performances. There will also be a lovers-themed fireworks show accompanied by a newly arranged soundtrack.

This year’s "Taipei Riverside Music Festival" is themed "Songs of Youth," carefully curating timeless hits from the 1930s to the millennium era, spanning from street performers and the folk song era to tribal music, inviting visitors to reminisce about their youth along the Taipei riverside. This year also uniquely selects the iconic song "" familiar to those born in the '50s and '60s as the event's theme song. The original singer, Golden Chih-Yuan (A-Wu), will perform the song live again at the "Dadaocheng Lovers' Day" on August 26th.

Taipei is an inclusive and culturally diverse friendly city, and music has the power to transcend borders and touch hearts. In addition to Golden Chih-Yuan, known as the "Rock ‘n’ Roll Goddess of Mandarin Music," and Matzka, the "Acoustic Reggae Singer," other international artists will also perform on August 26th, Dadaocheng Lovers' Day. These include the Malaysian young singer-songwriter Zhu Zhu Ai (Four Leaf Clover) and Japan’s "King of Island Songs," Nakashima Mika, who gained fame through the film "Kamikaze Girls." Other strong lineups in the series include legendary street performer Li Binghui, the "Father of Rural Folk Music" Ye Jiaxiu, ABAO who has been nominated for five Golden Melody Awards this year, visually impaired pianist Wang Junjie known as the "Piano Poet," last year’s Golden Melody Award-winning best vocal group Zhang San Li Si, and Golden Melody Award-winning Hakka singer Hsieh Yu-wei. Musicians of all kinds gather at the 2017 Taipei Riverside Music Festival to bring everyone a rich summer riverside experience.

In addition to the weekly riverside musical feasts, the Taipei Riverside Music Festival, in order to help visitors beat the summer heat and get closer to the water, the Taipei City Tourism and Communications Bureau has also coordinated with various municipal departments to host water-themed activities such as “Crazy Summer Water Fun,” “Little Pirates Experience Camp,” “Taipei Water Festival,” “Dihua Joyful Gathering,” and “Riverside Kids' Party.”.The Tourism and Communications Bureau has also partnered with the Houston Tourism Board to send you to the home base of rockets and to the frontlines of space exploration. July 1 Activity Highlights: This year’s Golden Melody Award winner for Best Music Video, Zhang San Li Si, performs publicly for the first time since winning. Notably, the official promotional video for the “Taipei Riverside Music Festival” was also produced by Zhang San Li Si, showcasing their immense talent. Meanwhile, A-Wu Golden Chih-Yuan, known as a top interpreter of rock since her debut, will sing the festival theme song "" and other well-loved hits.
