With the arrival of the sweltering summer, eating ice has become a must-do cooling activity. A newly opened shop called “I Really Want to Eat Ice” in Taipei’s Da’an District quickly stirred up online buzz in June. Its most eye-catching feature is a volcano-like fire-ice dessert. This bowl, called “Shirayama (True White Mountain),” combines fire-roasted orange wine with meringue, offering a cloud-like texture with a hint of alcohol aroma, then drizzled with a specially made rich homemade caramel sauce — delivering a delightful clash of fire and ice in the mouth. Currently, the Shirayama Fire-Ice is only available at night, and you can witness this “volcano” starting from 7 PM every evening.
