Three popular cliffside spots in Taipei that are perfect for breathtaking photos

Taiwan’s terrain is rich and unique, especially its cliffs and steep landscapes, which are beloved by many adventure-seeking tourists. In recent years’ photo trends, rock and suspended-style themes have become extremely popular, including Eagle Stone Peak, Elephant Trunk Rock, and Gunship Rock, among others. Below, we’ve specially selected three cliff-style scenic spots hidden within the Greater Taipei area. Not only can you challenge your nerves, but the views from above are also incredibly beautiful.

Kite Mountain
 
Aside from its old street, the Yonghe area also has this hidden gem — “Kite Mountain,” located not far from the Yonghe Old Street. The view from the summit is spectacular, offering sweeping vistas of the urban landscapes of Yonghe and Yingge. It’s also a great spot to snap thrilling photos that rival those taken at Eagle Stone Peak or Gunship Rock. However, the area lacks extensive safety measures, and it gets crowded on holidays, so visitors are advised to take precautions.

Dragon Boat Rock
 
Located in the suburbs of Neihu, Dragon Boat Rock features a short trail of just a few hundred meters, rich in ecological diversity with a variety of fern plants along the way. Here stands a massive white rock, which locals call Dragon Boat Rock due to its resemblance to a dragon boat. Standing atop the huge rock, you can overlook Zhongyong Mountain, Kaiyan Mountain, and vast expanses of lush green forest. Many visitors come here to take advantage of the visual effect and capture photos that give the thrilling impression of falling off a cliff.
