Throw a small loop in the skyline: Manhattan’s U-shaped skyscraper elevator roller coaster

This is probably one of the most astonishing skyscraper designs to date. Before long, Manhattan will toss a small loop into the skyline: the world’s first U-shaped skyscraper will emerge in New York, marking another historic record in architectural history.

According to demilked, the name of this skyscraper, “The Big Bend,” matches its shape. Designed by the globally renowned design team Oiio Studio, due to prior limitations on land use in New York City, they decided to “trade height for length” with this design, outsmarting legal restrictions.

This project is currently still in the planning stage. If successful, the building will surpass the Burj Khalifa to become the longest building in the world. It will also introduce a new elevator design: one that curves — sounding a bit like a roller coaster. This architectural plan has drawn global attention, but whether it will be approved remains to be seen.
