Six newly opened skywalks across Taiwan offer breathtaking aerial views

Standing high above the ground and gazing at the endless scenic vistas, overlooking plains, canyons, and city streets, brings a sense of tranquility as if all worries can be momentarily set aside. Skywalks and high-altitude suspension bridges have become popular among many travelers and online users in recent years. The thrilling and magnificent views are their biggest draw. Below is a list of seven newly opened skywalks and suspension bridges in 2017, each offering unobstructed panoramic views.

1. Taoyuan – Xinxikou Suspension Bridge
 
Located in Taoyuan, the Xinxikou Suspension Bridge has been structurally completed, but its surrounding facilities are still under construction. It is scheduled to open to the public by the end of 2017. The bridge spans 303 meters in length and 1.2 meters in width, connecting Jiaobanshan and Xikou Plateau while crossing the Dahan River. Upon completion, it will surpass Pingtung’s Shan Chuan Liuli Suspension Bridge to become Taiwan’s longest “hammock-style” suspension bridge.

2. Hualien – Qinbuzhi Zi Skywalk
 
Hualien’s new attraction, the “Qinbuzhi Zi” Skywalk in Fengbin Township, features a transparent reinforced glass walkway that offers an especially thrilling experience along with stunning ocean views. The 150-meter walkway showcases the beautiful scenery of Hualien. Following its trial operation on July 1, it garnered significant attention from tourists, attracting 1,500 visitors on the first day alone.

3. Nantou – Qingjing High-Altitude Viewing Trail
 
A new highlight for Qingjing Farm tourism and Taiwan’s first barrier-free alpine skywalk, the Qingjing High-Altitude Viewing Trail opened in May. It not only provides views of Nantou’s mountain scenery but is also wheelchair and stroller accessible. Visitors can stroll through grasslands and woods, feeling as if they’re walking on clouds, while overlooking the mountain ranges and open wilderness.
