Using the restroom on a plane can be really inconvenient. Window seat passengers have to stand up and ask neighbors to let them pass, while aisle passengers often glance around to see how many people are still in line. However,the UK’s Daily Mailhas compiled a list of two golden times to use the restroom, as suggested by flight attendants—tips that are well worth considering for travelers!

According to this report, it turns out that“after the seatbelt sign has been turned off” and “before the meal service begins”are the two best times to use the restroom. During these periods, you can even spend about 10 minutes reading the newspaper inside. If you’re in there for more than 20 minutes, flight attendants will come knocking.

Some people like to get up and use the restroom during meal service—it’s really not ideal. There was once a case where the smell in the restroom was so bad that the plane had to make an emergency landing, as the flight attendants couldn’t resolve the odor issue and the stench had spread throughout the cabin.
