But can you imagine what it would be like if millions of bubbles were released all at once? Harbour City in Xiangchang is hosting a public art project—"Bubble Up"—from August 2 to 20. The event invites Japanese contemporary artist Shinji Ohmaki for his first solo exhibition in Hong Kong, creating bubble-filled memories with visitors. Meanwhile, the "Kids’ Bubble Playground" will open in the Grand Hall of Ocean Terminal, offering fun for both children and adults. Artist Shinji Ohmaki will visit Hong Kong from August 1 to 4 and attend the opening event on August 2.

Shinji Ohmaki is known for creating unique spatial experiences through distinctive art installations and performances that stimulate the senses of audiences. International fashion brands such as Louis Vuitton and Hermès have also commissioned him for exhibitions. In 2008, he designed and produced a bubble machine capable of releasing 10,000 bubbles per minute, along with specially developed, skin-safe bubbles, for an installation performance titled "Memorial Rebirth." It was showcased in over 20 cities across Japan, as well as in Taiwan and Australia, and served as the opening performance for the first "Setouchi Triennale" in 2010.

This time, Shinji Ohmaki brings this iconic work to Hong Kong, importing the bubble machines and special bubbles from Japan. Twenty pop-up art installations will be held at the Ocean Terminal Plaza in Harbour City. He has also specially designed a six-tier, three-meter-tall bubble pyramid, installed at the center of the plaza. Forty-five bubble machines will release approximately 10 million bubbles from various directions and heights, against the beautiful backdrop of Victoria Harbour, reviving everyone’s joyful childhood memories.
