New God's Architect Attraction Opens to Public After 130 Years as UNESCO World Heritage Site

Known as the "God's Architect," Spanish architect Antoni Gaudí is world-renowned for his distinctive and fantastical design style. His works—from Casa Batlló and Casa Milà to the century-defining masterpiece Sagrada Família—are all globally celebrated architectural creations. Among them, Gaudí’s debut work, the UNESCO World Heritage site "Casa Vicens," which embodies a strong Arabic and Oriental flair, is also set to open to the public for the first time in autumn 2017.

Casa Vicens is a private residence and the first building designed by Gaudí. Constructed between 1883 and 1889, it was inscribed as a UNESCO World Heritage site in 2005. Located at Carrer de les Carolines 24 in Barcelona’s Gràcia district, the site is in a relatively narrow area, yet this residence is quite large, spanning nearly 3,800 square meters across four floors.
