Tokyo has welcomed another new hotel. “One@Tokyo,” with both its exterior and interior designed by renowned Japanese architect Kengo Kuma, officially opened on July 28 in the historic Oshiage district of Sumida Ward. The hotel seamlessly combines natural and industrial design elements, creating a delightful contrast between modern urban life and the charm of an old city block. Simply draw back your curtains to enjoy sweeping day and night views of the Tokyo Skytree. Head up to the rooftop terrace for a magical view of the tower’s evening lighting, showcasing the allure of this newly developed area.

Each project by acclaimed Japanese architect Kengo Kuma has attracted significant attention — including Japan’s most beautiful Starbucks at Dazaifu and the overseas branch of “Microwave Mountain” in Tokyo’s Minami-Aoyama. His signature wooden material style features a plug-in wood design that is both elegant and natural. This same aesthetic is also reflected in the design of “One@Tokyo,” allowing guests not just to take photos for social media, but to truly stay and experience it.

The hotel offers a variety of room types, each conceptually designed to cater to different personalities and preferences — such as those who love reading or business travelers prioritizing functionality.

In addition, One@Tokyo places special emphasis on digital services. In addition to free WiFi, rooms are equipped with a portable smartphone device called “Handy” that guests can take outside the hotel. The phone provides a wide range of Tokyo travel information, calling functions, and comes preloaded with the hotel’s contact number — ensuring international guests can easily stay in touch.
