The Perseid Meteor Shower Makes a Grand Appearance at Eight Stargazing Spots in Tainan

One of the three major meteor showers of the year, the “Perseid Meteor Shower,” will make its appearance on August 12. With clear, cloudless skies and no air pollution, you can expect to see around 150 meteors streaking across the sky per hour. Below are eight stargazing spots in Tainan, each offering wide-open views and minimal light pollution—perfect for enjoying the celestial show with the naked eye. 1. Dajia District – National Science Education Center for Astronomy and Space Science (Tainan)
The National Science Education Center for Astronomy and Space Science (Tainan) campus covers an area of 12 hectares. In addition to excellent natural conditions for astronomical stargazing, it also features hiking trails that take you through mudstone badland terrain, diverse plant and animal ecosystems, and rich cultural heritage sites, making it a great destination to connect with nature.

Recently, the renewal project of the Qigu Salt Field seawall has been completed, featuring newly installed sunset-viewing trails, as well as the restoration of viewing platforms and other recreational facilities.
