Discovering the Giant Monster in the Hidden Forest of Mountain Ferns — A Secret Realm from *Seediq Bale*

Located in the Snow Mountain Pit of Taichung’s Taoshan Tribe, this is Taiwan’s largest hidden forest of mountain ferns — a rare wild woodland. The statue is a remnant of the once-popular “Snow Mountain Garden Farm,” which has been abandoned for over 20 years. According to local residents, the statue was erected to commemorate a backhoe operator who died in a construction accident when he fell into the valley. However, stories vary, and due to the passage of time, it’s hard to verify the details — but it certainly adds a layer of mystery to this hidden spot.

This mysterious and pristine forest of mountain ferns was once a filming location for the movie *Seediq Bale*. It offers different scenery in each season, including vast peach blossom forests.
