The demand for U.S. beef has been increasing year by year. According to statistics, beef imports in the first half of 2017 reached 21,189 tons, equivalent to the weight of 105 Statue of Liberty monuments. To cater to the discerning palates of Taiwanese consumers, the U.S. Meat Export Federation launched the U.S. Beef BBQ Grand Prix event from August 16 to September 30. The event invited barbecue restaurants that use premium U.S. beef, with hundreds of top-notch BBQ establishments participating, covering six major categories: American-style, Japanese-style, Korean-style, skewers, steakhouses, and Mongolian barbecue.

To allow more consumers to savor the delightful taste of grilled U.S. beef, a generous prize draw for meals worth a total of NT$400,000 was introduced, along with numerous promotions such as special offers on U.S. beef from 120 featured restaurants, bonus prime-grade U.S. beef, and set meal fixed prices.

For instance, the well-known barbecue restaurant Yakitori Doutou offers an Ultimate U.S. Beef Grand Prix set meal (for 3–4 people) at a discounted price of just NT$1,700. Hanroupu gives away a portion of premium U.S. top sirloin with every beef platter ordered. Time-honored barbecue spot Xiong Yi Yakitori is also on the list—show the discount page on your phone when visiting, and groups of two or more adults will receive a free U.S. Angus flat iron steak.
