The "Blue Bay Giant" stands tall on Yanliao Beach   Landscape Art Season offers free entry for kids before April 15

As early summer approaches, it’s once again the season to embrace the beach and get close to the ocean. At the end of last month, Yanliao Seaside Park was transformed and renamed Blue Bay Seaside Leisure Area. The operator used golden sand and combined natural elements such as driftwood, ironwork, and bamboo to create the landscape art “Blue Bay Frameless Golden Sand Fantasy.”From now until April 15, children under 12 can visit for free, and everyone—both adults and children—had free entry on the opening day on the 9th.

Wang Songguan, chairman of the Taiwan Sand Sculpture Art Promotion Association, stated that Yanliao Seaside Park in Gongliao District, New Taipei, is famous for its nearly 3-kilometer-long expanse of golden sand. The fine and pure sand takes on a golden hue under the sunlight and has been certified by the World Sand Sculpture Association as “the most suitable place in the world for creating sand sculptures.” Liao Qinyao, marketing director of Blue Bay Seaside Leisure Area, explained that across the four exhibition zones, there are 20 sand sculptures, 5 bamboo craft pieces, and 5 driftwood art pieces. Among them, a striking “Blue Bay Giant” standing approximately 3 meters tall is the largest piece in the exhibit.

Notably, this exhibition presents the world’s first moving sand sculpture. The five “frames” at the entrance serve as a key borrowing scenery technique, blending natural beauty with sand sculpture artistry. As visitors follow the viewing route, an optical illusion makes it seem as if the sand sculptures are moving.

The park took over four months to prepare. With the collaborative work of over 20 sand sculptors and artists with more than 10 years of experience, Yanliao Seaside Park includes the Yanliao Beach, a family-friendly splash pool, sand sculpture experiences, and an Anti-Japanese War Memorial... among other attractions.
