Pre-sale for tickets to Taiwan’s longest suspension bridge – Taiping Cloud Ladder, a new scenic attraction, now open

Chiayi’s Taiping Cloud Ladder is Taiwan’s longest scenic suspension bridge, with a single span of 281 meters. Located in Taiping Village, Meishan Township, at an altitude of 1,000 meters, it offers views stretching across the Chianan Plain all the way to the Taiwan Strait, making it a highly anticipated new attraction. The Alishan National Scenic Area Administration has scheduled the official opening ceremony for the morning of September 23, with visitor access to the bridge starting at 1:30 PM that afternoon. The ticket reservation system opened for pre-sales at 10 AM on September 4.

The route from Meishan to Taiping features as many as 36 turns and narrow roadways. To ensure a quality visitor experience, the Alishan Administration has implemented a pre-sale and visitor flow control system, and has set up a dedicated tourism website for Taiping Cloud Ladder. All tickets must be purchased online via this website; no on-site ticket sales will be available. Visitors can register an account on the site, select their mode of transport, preferred time slot for crossing the bridge, ticket type, and quantity, then complete the pre-purchase with a credit card.

To promote tourism in Taiping’s Four Villages and surrounding areas, special discounted tickets priced at NT$100 will be available from September 23, 2017 (106 year in Taiwan calendar) through the end of 2018 (107 year). The Alishan Administration also urges visitors to plan their itineraries in advance and to purchase tickets before coming up the mountain. Additional local tours can be arranged to explore nearby attractions and specialty shops around the Cloud Ladder, offering a taste of the area’s rich cultural heritage and unique landscapes.
