Yuanli Township, known as the “granary of Miaoli,” has the largest paddy field area in the county and mainly grows rice. Its painted rice fields have become a major tourist attraction. Following last year’s tiger-themed design, this year’s second rice field painting features Santa Claus and reindeer. The artwork is now taking shape, with colors at their most vibrant around mid-September and viewable until the end of October.

The Yuanli Township Farmers' Association has created painted rice fields based on the granary theme, using yellow, green, white, and purple rice varieties to form beautiful patterns. Aside from showcasing the variety of rice colors, it also helps establish Yuanli as a tourist destination. This year’s venue is located next to the Love Orchard, and a new viewing platform has been specially built using shipping containers. A one-way route has been designed to ease traffic congestion.
