The world's first stop, "Einstein Exhibition – Genius of Relativity," grandly opens in Taiwan. Featuring items exclusively loaned for the first time from the Israeli Einstein Archives, the exhibition centers on Albert Einstein, the most important scientist of the 20th century, focusing on four major aspects of his life: scientific achievements, personal life, public persona, and Einstein’s influence on the contemporary world.
 

The Einstein Exhibition is held at the National Chiang Kai-shek Memorial Hall.

The exhibition began on January 12, 2018, featuring nearly 100 authentic artifacts that influenced his life and thinking. Due to the precious nature of the paper-based exhibits, Hebrew University meticulously controlled lighting, temperature, and humidity to protect them. This exhibition introduces five digital interactive installations based on Einstein’s theories, allowing visitors to experience many of his scientific theories firsthand in an immersive way, making it easy to understand the ideas of this century’s genius. A must-see highlight is that while learning more about Einstein’s life and thinking, visitors can also leave special memories through interactions and photos.
 

1. 1946 Original Manuscript of the Mass-Energy Equivalence Theory (E=mc²)
 
In October 2017, two handwritten notes by Einstein on the theory of happiness, written 95 years ago, were auctioned in Jerusalem, Israel, for a staggering $1.8 million, sparking widespread media attention. Nearly 100 authentic manuscripts have been brought to Taiwan for this exhibition, making the overall value of the exhibit exceed hundreds of millions of Taiwanese dollars. This is the first time the Israeli Einstein Archives has exclusively loaned some of Einstein’s most influential original manuscripts, personal collections, and many significant documents never before loaned from Israel, such as the highly anticipated manuscript of the "General Theory of Relativity" and the handwritten original containing the famous formula E=mc². It is the most important international exhibition of its kind to premiere in Taiwan ahead of the rest of the world in scientific history.

In the piece, Einstein discusses the two fundamental physical laws that existed before the theory of relativity: the law of conservation of energy and the law of conservation of mass. He points out that in the context of special relativity, these two laws merge into one, because mass is a form of energy, and that energy combines with mechanical, chemical, and thermal energy to form the total energy of a material body. This article includes the most famous formula in the history of science, E=mc², handwritten by Einstein himself.
