Pingxi Sky Lanterns: Four Major Attractions & a Train Day Tour Even During Mid-Autumn

With a history of over a hundred years, the Pingxi Sky Lantern Festival in New Taipei City attracts over a hundred thousand visitors every year. The 2017 Pingxi Sky Lantern Festival was held during the Mid-Autumn Festival for the first time, with a sky lantern release event taking place at Pingxi Junior High School on October 4. Below are also selected scenic railway trips to Qingtong, Pingxi, Lingjiao, and Wanggu train stations, which visitors can consider as references. 1. Wanggu Station

Wanggu Station in Pingxi is one of the favorite shooting spots for many photography enthusiasts. Its unique location and environment create stunning compositions and atmospheres, earning it the nickname “the most mysterious station” among netizens. When visiting Wanggu, you can check out the famous Qinghe Suspension Bridge, Grey Kiln Waterfall, Wanggu Waterfall, Wanggukeng Ancient Trail, and Monet Café.

2. Lingjiao Station

The bay-style platform at Lingjiao Station is quite picturesque, and it has been featured as a filming location in many dramas. The area features many historical sites, including coal transport facilities, a Japanese-era mining dormitory museum, and the Tsai Family Western-Style House, all exuding a strong historical charm. Additionally, there’s the Lingjiao Liao Hiking Trail where you can enjoy rich natural ecological scenery.
