A stunning hidden wonder comparable to Lishong Hot Springs — Taiwan’s only horizontally swirling plunge waterfall

The fairy-tale-like Lishong Hot Springs, known as Taiwan’s most beautiful wild stream hot spring, boasts emerald-green mountain walls thanks to its weakly alkaline sodium bicarbonate springs, resembling a divine palette. Deep in the mountains of Nantou lies another breathtaking secret spot — “Tiebailun Waterfall,” whose crystal-clear green waters and Taiwan’s only horizontally swirling plunge-style waterfall offer scenery comparable to Lishong Hot Springs.

“Tiebailun Waterfall” is located in Hongxiang Tribe, west of Hehuanshan in Ren’ai Township, at an altitude of about 1,300 meters. The waterfall swirls between sheer cliff walls and plunges diagonally into a crystal-clear, deep pool, creating a spectacular scene akin to a hidden paradise. The stone walls of Tiebailun Canyon show orange and white streaks formed by years of mineral oxidation. Over time, the constant flow of water has carved out beautiful arcs, forming a majestic canyon landscape.

As Tiebailun Waterfall is situated deep within a remote canyon, visitors must drive along a long forestry road and hike for about 20 minutes. Travelers should carefully assess their physical condition before visiting.
