The persimmons are turning red！ A must-see orange-yellow spectacle this autumn

As autumn arrives, you can feel the strong northeastern winds blowing. In addition to the romantic sight of maple leaves turning red, the persimmons lined up on trellises are also starting to turn red. Recently, Hsinchu’s well-known Weiwijia Farm shared a vast expanse of magnificent golden-yellow scenery and announced the official start of its annual persimmon-drying season.

From September each year to January of the following year, visitors can see trellises at the Weiwijia Persimmon Cake Sightseeing Farm in Xinchang covered with bright yellow-orange persimmons, presenting a picturesque scene that captivates the eye. This lovely and beautiful view attracts many travelers every year, and the baskets of golden small persimmons in the square have become a popular focal point for autumn photography.

In addition to photographing these golden, round little fruits, you can also enjoy persimmon-dried chicken soup for health, persimmon ice pops made with persimmon cake bits, and more. There are also hands-on experiences such as persimmon dyeing, ceramic painting, making persimmon dolls, and hand-weaving persimmon-themed crafts — making it an unmissable autumn travel experience.

As times progress, most persimmon cake producers now use electric ovens to make persimmon cakes, which not only reduces spoilage but also saves time and labor. Weiwijia in Xinchang, however, has long remained committed to using century-old traditional methods to sun-dry persimmons, taking advantage of Xinchang’s unique climate and environment to continue this traditional delicacy and craftsmanship.
