The official Facebook page of the Chibi Maruko-chan themed café and restaurant posted an announcement on October 1, stating that it would suspend operations immediately due to the inability to reach an agreement on the conditions of the Japanese licensing partnership. Even plans to expand to Taichung had fallen through.

Taipei's Chibi Maruko-chan KITCHEN was the first overseas restaurant officially licensed by Japan, beloved by fans of all ages in Taiwan.
