New Taipei Trail: A New Scenic Urban Spot for Slow Living and Apricot Blossom Viewing

As the weather turns cooler, it’s once again the perfect season for hiking and outdoor activities. On the eve of the Double Ninth Festival, the Linkou District Office has newly developed a trail called the “Xinliao Leisure Trail.” Stretching nearly 1 kilometer, it connects the Laogongqi Trail and the Ren’ai Observation Deck, making it a great spot for local walking and strolling.

The Linkou Plateau is situated at an elevation of approximately 250 meters. During the original urban planning, green spaces were designated along the edges of the plateau, initially serving as buffer zones between residential areas and slopes. After undergoing renovation, a variety of shrubs have been planted in the landscape area, and local volunteers have been mobilized to beautify the plantings on both sides of the trail. This has created a continuous green corridor, now serving as a new local destination for slow living and leisurely walks.

In addition to connecting multiple scenic spots, the Xinliao Leisure Trail borders a tranquil valley that offers different views in every season. Not only does it provide expansive views and beautiful night scenery, but during the blooming season of tung blossoms, visitors can also enjoy vast seas of blooming tung flowers on the mountains. Whether you’re here for leisurely exercise or sightseeing, you can experience a uniquely peaceful urban slow life.
