The annual Taipei International Travel Fair (ITF), the largest of its kind in Taiwan, was held from October 27 to 30, 2017. The event took place at World Trade Center Halls 1 and 3, with over 68 countries or regions, 950 exhibitors, and 1,650 booths participating.

Entering its 31st year, the ITF has seen attendance grow from 50,000 to 360,000 last year. As the most important travel fair in the Asia-Pacific region, it is expected that the number of outbound travelers in 2017 could reach 15 million, reflecting the strength of Taiwan’s tourism industry. Under the concept of “Travel Taiwan, Explore the World,” an ITF-themed graffiti train was launched, offering passengers the experience of “traveling the world and exploring Taiwan just by riding the Xinyi-Tamsui Line.” This campaign attracted considerable attention and sharing among consumers.

In addition to unbeatable deals on travel packages and discounted flight tickets, the event offered great perks such as free accommodation vouchers for reaching spending thresholds, games with airline ticket prizes, and more. There were also exciting performances by various mascots, interactive sessions with Miss Guam, dance performances from Kuala Lumpur, trendy K-pop dance lessons, and traditional Korean dance shows—all highly engaging. Furthermore, companies generously offered attractive giveaways like Mayday concert tickets for their Canada tour with travel package purchases, drawing significant attention. On-site visitors who collected themed stamps had the chance to win prizes including an iPad Mini 4 16G Wi-Fi version, China Airlines domestic and international flight tickets, EVA Air unrestricted destination tickets, NokScoot Taipei-Bangkok round-trip tickets, Japan Airlines Taipei-Japan round-trip tickets, Samsonite 28T suitcases, accommodation vouchers, meal vouchers, and exquisite local gifts. Some companies even brought large ski simulators to create buzz and draw crowds.

The four-day Taipei International Travel Fair is gearing up for action. This year, the participating national tourism bureaus, tourism promotion agencies, airlines, county and city governments, and travel agencies have all focused their efforts on presenting the most exciting marketing programs and offers. Their goal is to transform the most competitive travel packages and high-quality festivals into real purchasing power, strengthening the ITF’s integrated sales and marketing appeal. In particular, airlines are offering numerous great-value flight deals—long-haul routes to San Francisco, Chicago, and New York in the U.S. are available at surprising prices, while early bird fares for routes to Osaka, Nagoya, and other destinations are under NT$10,000 and not to be missed. For travel plans, winter’s popular skiing packages are being offered at an astonishingly low price of NT$24,500, attracting considerable attention. Additionally, domestic travel options such as Penghu self-guided tours are also available at market-low prices starting under NT$3,000, making them very appealing. County and city government booths are also offering diverse and entertaining activities—such as daily interactive games and industry promotions on the Tainan Pavilion stage—as well as appearances by the adorable mascot “Cricket Captain” to interact with visitors.

Participate in the “Tainan Praises Endless” activity and receive Tainan Xinhua Chief’s Tea Eggs (limited quantity, while supplies last). The Miaoli Pavilion not only provides rich information on Miaoli County’s diverse travel experiences, cultural charm, and specialty products, but also exclusive ITF discounts. It actively showcases Miaoli’s six major tourism highlights—“camellia flowers,” “wood carvings,” “hot springs,” “fruits,” “ceramics,” and “Hakka cuisine.” Visitors are welcome to explore the Miaoli County Pavilion at the “2017 Taipei International Travel Fair” to discover Miaoli’s historical elegance, natural beauty, and artistic culture, and to experience the peaceful pace of Miaoli, a slow-paced city.
