Typhoon Saola turns north toward Japan, closest to Taiwan on the 27th — stay alert for weather changes

The central pressure of Typhoon Saola is 985 hPa, with maximum near-center wind speeds of 25 m/s and maximum instantaneous gusts of 33 m/s. The radius of typhoon-force winds (Beaufort Scale 7) is 120 km.

Due to the influence of a high-pressure system to the northwest and the southward advance of the northeast monsoon, Taiwan’s lowest temperatures will drop further, ranging between 18–20°C. Midday highs in central areas may still reach 27–29°C, resulting in the largest day-night temperature differences—extra care is needed. In other regions, highs will be around 22°C. Autumn and winter climates are becoming more pronounced. When going out, carry a light jacket or simple cold-weather gear, and also be mindful of temperature differences between air-conditioned indoor spaces and the outdoors to avoid catching a cold.
