New Taipei Christmas Town Gets an Upgrade: The World’s Only 360-Degree Light Projection Debuts

The annual “2017 New Taipei City Happy Christmas Town,” the largest of its kind in Taiwan, is just around the corner. This festive event will run for 39 consecutive days from November 24 of this year (2017) to January 1 of next year (2018)! This year’s Christmas Town is themed around a magical, joyful, and glamorous circus, sure to leave visitors amazed from the moment they step in.

This year, the event has once again partnered with Singapore’s top projection team, which holds a Guinness World Record. Utilizing up to 48 high-spec projectors, the hardware, special effects, projection range, and brightness have all been significantly upgraded to create the “world’s only 360-degree 3D light projection Christmas tree.” For the first time, the area in front of the station plaza has been integrated, expanding the event from two major light zones to three. Additionally, cutting-edge intelligent mobile projection technology is being used for the first time, extending the dazzling light projections to the Banqiao Station building. This move increases the total projection area to 8,794 square meters (equivalent to 21 basketball courts or 1.5 football fields), setting yet another impressive record.

Even more exciting is this year’s newly created “Christmas Light Dance,” which will premiere at the station plaza. A romantic sky curtain woven with white and gold hues, 12 dazzling computer-controlled spotlights, 8 container markets adorned with ornate lights, plus a cute stage shaped like Santa Bear, and a sparkling Christmas tree combined with a spinning reindeer ride—all will flash and dance in sync with the theme music, transforming the station plaza into the most radiant and colorful Christmas wonderland.

On November 25 and 26, the highly anticipated “Kids’ Fun Carnival” will take place, featuring beloved cartoon characters such as Pororo, Dibo, POLI, and Tayo. Don’t miss the meet-and-greet photo sessions with the Santa Bear family and the Pororo family. Additionally, on November 25 at the Banqiao Station plaza, a lighting ceremony will be held where snowflakes descend from the sky—available for one day only, so don’t miss out.

This year’s Happy Christmas Town has invited the globally adored “Penguin President Pororo (Pororo the Little Penguin)” who will visit the Christmas Town with his cute animal family. Moreover, the ever-popular container markets will be given a circus-style makeover this year. Eighteen container market stalls and five free rides—the “Royal Carousel,” “Snowy Flying Chair,” “Spinning Elk Forest,” “Christmas Express,” and “Light-Speed Fighter”—will make a glamorous debut, ensuring visitors have a memorable and fun-filled experience.
