Endless Nostalgic Scenes: Yeonji-dong, Seoul’s Must-Visit Popular Spot

Yeonji-dong Hanok Village in Seoul has recently become a popular tourist destination. Although it is located in the historic city center, it was relatively unknown in the past. In recent years, however, it has gained attention as many young artists and entrepreneurs have settled here, creating highly individualistic cafés, restaurants, and craft shops. This has transformed Yeonji-dong into a comprehensive cultural space where visitors can experience the diverse charm of Seoul all in one place, making it a favorite among many.

Yeonji-dong Hanok Village was formed around the 1920s and features a unique architectural style that blends tradition with modernity. Residents still live here, leaving traces of daily life. The narrow, winding alleys may all look similar, but each shop and café boasts uniquely decorated interiors.

The entire Yeonji-dong area feels like a time-traveling photo set, with every corner and alley serving as the perfect backdrop. There are several must-visit spots, including Vintage Bonnie, Chabim (a popular hanbok brand), 1920 (a light Western-style eatery), Unhyeongung Palace, and the food street.

Vintage Bonnie
Vintage Bonnie sells a variety of handmade vintage goods such as clothing and tableware. One corner of the store neatly displays colorful and ornate tableware, while another is filled with retro-style clothing. There are also many cute and affordable items such as fruit-shaped accessories and animal plush toys.

Chabim, a popular hanbok brand, is about a 15-minute walk from the hanok alleys. It offers a wide range of beautiful traditional hanboks as well as modernized versions, allowing visitors to choose and try on their favorite styles based on personal preference.
