The world is filled with all kinds of unusual architecture, from treehouses to floating homes, and now Norway’s coastline will soon be home to a restaurant landscape that looks like it’s straight out of a science fiction movie. Snøhetta, a renowned architecture firm, recently announced plans to build Europe’s first underwater restaurant at the southernmost tip of Norway’s coastline, allowing diners to enjoy their meals while observing marine life — essentially placing them inside an aquarium.

This underwater restaurant, named “Under,” has an architectural exterior resembling a sci-fi version of Noah’s Ark. Half of it is submerged underwater and half sits above ground on the shore. Diners can enter through an entrance on land and descend five meters down to the dining area beneath the sea — a truly unique experience. The firm also noted that this will not just be a restaurant or an aquarium, but will become part of the seabed itself, forming an artificial reef that attracts marine life.
