The entire New Taipei City can be considered part of the metropolitan area, covering a vast expanse with both mountains and sea. Beyond the more bustling areas like Banqiao and Zhongyonghe, as well as the well-known Wulai, Shimen, and the northern coastline, there are actually many lesser-known districts and attractions. Below are five unique spots in New Taipei that don’t require battling crowds. Each place is quite distinctive and offers breathtaking views, making them perfect for a one-day trip itinerary.

1. San-Ying Art Village
The New Taipei City Yingge Ceramics Museum has designated the San-Ying Art Village as an exhibition space designed for children aged 8 to 12 and families. Through its exhibitions, it creates a diverse and fun environment for ceramic art display. There are many large-scale installation artworks here, including a 15-meter-tall pottery wheel, which has become a local landmark and a popular spot for photos.

2. Linkou Buffalo Pit
America’s Grand Canyon is famously spectacular, and Linkou has a similarly impressive sight to offer. Located beside the West Coast Expressway (Provincial Highway 61), Linkou Buffalo Pit, also known as the Linkou Grand Canyon, features unique landforms and is near privately grazed cattle herds, attracting many visitors. It has become a hidden gem for wedding photography and social media check-ins.

3. Xindian O-Yan Feng?/strong>
Xindian’s “O-Yan Feng” not only offers serene lake views but also a tranquil mountain atmosphere. This once-popular dating spot from the 1980s sees fewer visitors today. The lake water is clear, and during certain seasons, fields of cosmos flowers and goldenrod spread out, creating a peaceful ambiance away from the crowds.
