New Year’s Eve Mega Surprise: Korean Star Rain to Appear in Taipei 101 Light & Fireworks Show with Unprecedented Extended Duration

The most anticipated lineup of New Year’s Eve performers and the 101 countdown light and fireworks show have been revealed. Taiwan’s only New Year’s Eve concert held exclusively in Taipei will feature “Nation’s Sweetheart” Crowd-Favorite Show Lo, “New Year’s Eve Ratings King” Bii Shijian, and the hip-hop group MJ116 taking the stage back-to-back on December 31st. The highly anticipated return of long-absent Golden Melody Award-winning songstress Tanya Chua to perform at Taipei’s New Year’s Eve concert is also a major highlight, along with the first-ever appearance of Korean superstar Rain on the Taipei countdown stage.

Taiwan’s “strongest” New Year’s Eve event in Taipei will feature performances by Show Lo, Jolin Tsai (stage name), Ding Dang, Mandy Wei, William Wei, A-Lin, as well as MJ116, Show Lo, and Bii Shijian closing out the night in relay. Even more excitingly, Golden Melody Award-winning songstress Tanya Chua is also on the bill, promising to create the trendiest, hottest, and most star-studded New Year’s Eve concert in Taiwan. The elaborately designed program includes highlights such as “Nation’s Sweetheart” Show Lo leading a team of musicians and a 14-piece orchestra on stage, guaranteeing an unforgettable auditory experience. The press conference also unveiled a grand surprise: international superstar and renowned Korean artist Rain will headline alongside the handsome boy band IN2IT to ring in the New Year with everyone in Taipei — marking the first time ever a Korean artist has been invited to participate in Taipei’s New Year’s Eve event, promising an absolutely spectacular performance.

In addition to the star-studded lineup, the annual Taipei 101 fireworks display remains the highlight of the Taipei New Year’s Eve event, drawing global attention. This year’s Taipei 101 countdown light and fireworks show is themed “2018 Happy Together.” With a longer duration, upgraded fireworks grade, and the addition of multimedia light shows, the total length will reach 360 seconds, offering audiences a one-of-a-kind visual spectacle.
