Countless floating wishes on the water！The International Water Lantern Festival kicks off at Breeze Canal on the 15th

Marking its third year, the annual “2017 International Prayer Water Lantern Festival” will be held at 3:00 PM on April 15 at Breeze Canal in Greater Taipei Metropolitan Park. Organized by Japan’s Shinnyo-en and co-hosted by the New Taipei City High Plain Engineering Office, the event will offer 1,000 free lanterns for visitors to write their prayers on (limited quantity, available until supplies last). Participating in the event not only allows people to honor and remember loved ones who have passed, but also provides comfort to the soul and promotes spiritual well-being—making it a truly meaningful occasion.

This year’s Water Lantern Festival will allow participants to write messages of love and remembrance for family and loved ones, personal wishes, and prayers for world peace on their lanterns. The event will also feature a variety of artistic and musical performances for attendees to enjoy, including performances by the Taipei Philharmonic Youth Orchestra, classical guitar music, innovative compositions using traditional Chinese instruments, Shinnyo Taiko drumming, and a concert by the Shinnyo Choir.
