The Einstein Archives at the Hebrew University in Israel are lending items globally for the very first time, with the world premiere of the “Einstein Exhibition – Genius Relativity” set to make its grand debut in January next year. The exhibition will feature nearly 100 authentic artifacts that influenced his life and thinking, including the handwritten manuscript of the theory of relativity E=mc² that changed the course of human development and the Nobel Prize medal owned by Einstein... The “Einstein Exhibition – Genius Relativity” will be held from January 12 to April 8, 2018, in Hall 1 of the Chiang Kai-shek Memorial Hall. It marks the first collaboration between Taiwan and the Einstein Archives at the Hebrew University of Jerusalem, Israel, focusing on Albert Einstein, one of the most important scientists of the 20th century. The exhibition centers around four major aspects of Einstein’s life: his scientific achievements, private life, public image, and his impact on the modern era. Nearly 100 globally exclusive, first-time lent authentic artifacts will be on display, including the world-renowned scientific formula E=mc² handwritten by Einstein himself.2Authentic manuscripts, Einstein’s Nobel Prize medals, foundational documents of the general theory of relativity, and more will be showcased, along with several previously unpublished letters and archives that will reveal lesser-known facets of Einstein.

Moreover, the Einstein Exhibition has been guided by the Ministry of Science and Technology and co-developed with National Tsing Hua University, the Astronomical Society of the Republic of China, and Scientific American Magazine to create five digital interactive experiences based on Einstein’s theories. These include: “The Time-Space Journey of the Speed of Light Bicycle” – using the principles of the Special Theory of Relativity, visitors will ride a speed-of-light bicycle in a race, understanding the changes brought about by the theory as they accelerate; “Journey Through the Universe – A Visible Gravitational Field” – applying the principles of the General Theory of Relativity, visitors will become a small planet forming a gravitational field in space, causing the deflection of light beams; “Lighting Up the City – The Photoelectric Effect” – solar power generation is the best real-life application of the Photoelectric Effect proposed by Einstein, where the collective power of visitors will light up a once-dark city; “Dare to Hypothesize – Einstein’s Theory Book” – through augmented reality (AR), participants can “witness firsthand” the physical phenomena proposed by Einstein; “Einstein’s Musical Equation” – aside from science, Einstein also loved classical music and was an accomplished violinist. Through interactive play, choose one of Einstein’s favorite pieces to help him solve the problem on the blackboard. Through these five immersive experiences, even elementary school students can grasp the world of relativity in an educational and entertaining way.
