Get a First Look at the Final Wave of Floral Splendor: The China International Flower Carpet Festival Kicks Off

The 2017 Flower Carpet Festival took place in the Houli Flower Field Green Corridor, themed “The Sound of Blooming Flowers.” It featured a large variety of local characteristic flowers and integrated elements such as the flower expo mascot "The Leopard Cat Family" and music. By crafting a story-driven experience, the festival created a musical garden party led by the Leopard Cat Family, shaping the image of Taichung as a garden city and attracting tourists from all over to experience the beauty of Taichung.

To help visitors gain a deeper understanding of Taichung as a beautiful garden city, the floral installations in the park were designed to reflect local culture and natural landscapes. The main flower carpet, shaped like Taichung’s city flower—the mountain cherry blossom—danced alongside dynamic mechanical flowers such as lilies and cosmos, presenting a delightful spectacle of floral symbiosis.

Houli, one of the 2018 World Flora Expo exhibition areas, is known as the “Saxophone Capital of the World.” This year’s Flower Carpet Festival specially presented the image of a saxophone using vibrant and colorful flowers to highlight Houli’s reputation as the hometown of musical instruments.
