China Airlines’ Aurora charter flights are back in 2017 again. Following the sold-out success of the “Happy Aurora Charter Flights” in September and November last year, China Airlines and travel partners have once again launched the “Golden Autumn Alaska Aurora Charter Flight” in September this year. With only 710 spots available on two Aurora charter flights, bookings are limited and will be sold out soon. Register and pay before April 30 to enjoy a NT$10,000 discount for the second traveler, or register and pay between May 1 and May 31 to receive a NT$6,000 discount for the second traveler.
China Airlines is offering a 9-day, 7-night group tour package titled the “Golden Autumn Alaska Happy Aurora Charter Flight.” The tours depart on September 20 and September 27, 2017, aboard Boeing 777 aircraft, offering passengers more cabin class options. The charter flights will travel between Anchorage, USA, and Fairbanks — the capital of aurora viewing — with two tour packages priced at NT$136,900 and NT$109,900 (both inclusive of tax).
China Airlines stated that early bird discounts apply to specific itineraries. Register and pay before April 30 to get a NT$10,000 discount for the second traveler, or register and pay between May 1 and May 31 to receive a NT$6,000 discount for the second traveler.
This year’s Aurora charter flight not only retains the most essential highlights of the itinerary but also optimizes the route based on customer feedback. The trip includes a ride on the most exciting section of the Aurora Train, avoiding a full day on the train. Travelers will spend one night in Talkeetna, one of the best spots to view the aurora and the town closest to Denali, North America’s highest peak. Optional add-ons include a small plane tour for a close-up view of Denali and, if weather permits, even a landing on an ancient glacier for a breathtaking experience in a world of silver and white.

The itinerary includes three nights’ stay in Fairbanks, the renowned capital of Aurora viewing. As Alaska’s second-largest city, Fairbanks is considered one of the best places in the world to see the Northern Lights, with auroras visible on over 243 days of the year.
The itinerary includes two visits to aurora viewing cabins located in the suburbs of Fairbanks. These cozy cabins come equipped with comfortable seating, indoor heating, hot tea, and coffee. Wait inside until the aurora appears, then step outside to witness the dreamlike glow of the Northern Lights. Some specific itineraries also include a stay at Chena Hot Springs Resort, allowing travelers to enjoy outdoor hot springs while waiting for another magical aurora encounter.
The China Airlines Aurora charter flights are in collaboration with five major travel agencies: Phoenix, Masterpiece, Southeast, Cola, and Lion. Recommended by the U.S. National Tourism Office Brand USA, the Anchorage Convention and Visitors Bureau, and the Fairbanks Convention and Visitors Bureau, the itinerary allows travelers to fully appreciate the beautiful autumn scenery of Alaska, enjoy the Aurora spectacle, take a glacier cruise, observe floating ice, and explore 26 glaciers and various wildlife in the fjords — all within a minimal number of travel days.
