Container market COMMUNEA7 closes; check out new skyscraper attractions

The popular photo spot COMMUNE A7 container market, located in Taipei’s Xinyi District—a new-style venue integrating leisure, dining, and social spaces—will close after one year of operation at the end of January. Visitors who haven’t been should seize the last chance to visit.

The site will be redeveloped into a brand-new skyscraper, Taipei Sky Tower, which will become a new landmark featuring a mixed-use mall and hotel, set to be completed in 2020. Taipei Sky Tower is planned to include a dual-brand international hotel, featuring a flagship shopping district, innovative dining options, and performance spaces.

Taipei Sky Tower invited seven of the world’s top architecture firms from London, New York, Milan, Tokyo, and Hong Kong to propose design plans. The design focuses on creating an iconic skyscraper that complements Taipei 101.
