Taiwanese people have a high level of fondness and acceptance for Japanese sushi. Previously introduced Japanese sushi brands such as Genki Sushi and HAMA Sushi have been very popular among Taiwanese diners, and locally operated Genki Sushi is also consistently well-received. Now, Japan’s largest conveyor belt sushi chain leader “Sushiro” (スシロ?) is about to make its debut in Taiwan, causing a stir and sparking discussions among many industry watchers.

The affordable sushi brand loved by Japanese people, Sushiro, began expanding overseas in 2011. Starting with its first location in South Korea, it now has eight overseas outlets. It is expected to enter Taiwan this spring, opening its first store in Taipei and planning to expand further across northern, central, and southern Taiwan, making the beloved Japanese sushi accessible to people all over the island.

Sushiro is widely loved in Japan not only for its fresh ingredients and diverse flavors, but also for its very reasonable prices, making it a go-to high-value meal choice for locals. With the upcoming opening of Sushiro stores in Taiwan, prices are expected to range from 150 to 300 yen per plate (approximately 40 to 80 New Taiwan dollars), featuring premium ingredients such as sea urchin, salmon roe, crab, and small abalone, as well as a variety of sides including desserts, ramen, and udon—generating a lot of excitement.

Sushiro registered in Taiwan in August 2017 and has already started recruitment. Its first store may be located at Taipei Main Station or Ximending, with an opening as early as March. Sushi lovers shouldn’t miss out.
