Summer hasn’t officially arrived yet, but the weather is already heating up. The most soothing way to beat the heat is by digging into a big bowl of ice cream (or shaved ice)! Taichung’s ice shop “Ice Field GariGari” has only recently opened, but Instagram is already filled with stunning photos of its treats. The owner, drawing inspiration from running a wine bar, has created a line of adults-only shaved ice — and the unique Irish Cream Brulee Ice will leave you feeling tipsy after just one bite.

The owner is a strong supporter of local farmers. The shop name “Ice Field” continues the concept of “field” — representing the earth and local roots. It uses locally sourced Taiwanese fruits and ingredients to create healthy shaved ice, such as the Pineapple Yogurt Ice and the Matcha Mini-Mountain Lemon Ice. These use non-toxic, safe lemons delivered directly from Pingtung and certified pineapples. The wooden-themed decor paired with refreshing, clean large bowls of shaved ice instantly cools you down upon arrival.

The shop’s most special offering is its adults-only ice flavors, based on alcohol. The Irish Cream Brulee Ice and the Men’s Brandy Cocoa Ice are the ultimate cool-down treats for grown-ups. The Irish Cream Brulee Ice is topped with caramelized crème brûlée and crunchy caramel bits for the perfect combination. The shop’s atmosphere feels like a daytime wine bar, with each corner offering a different vibe. The lightly alcoholic ice treats are rich in aroma and will be the coolest spot for summer gatherings.
