Director of the Agriculture Bureau, Li Wen, said that to promote high-quality aquatic products from Gongliao, New Taipei City Government established the “Gongliao Abalone” brand, promoting locally grown blacklip abalone and kuruma prawns that are raised on seaweed. The government also guides businesses in self-management to obtain the New Taipei City “Agricultural and Fishery Products Safety Label” certification, helping consumers identify safe, local, top-quality ingredients. Many people think Gongliao Abalone is hard to prepare and only available in high-end restaurants, but actually, the locally produced Gongliao Abalone is a premium yet affordable domestic seafood. Once cooked, it has a Q-textured, sweet, and fresh taste. Now is the peak season for Gongliao Abalone — everyone is welcome to buy fresh Gongliao Abalone directly from the Gongliao area or from the fishermen’s association, and easily cook it at home.
