Like walking on a cliff edge！Taipei’s Neihu “Dragon Boat Rock” boasts a massive white stone that’s super thrilling

Standing on the huge rock feels like you're about to fall off a cliff—could Taipei really have such an adrenaline-pumping landscape? This is Dragon Boat Rock in Taipei’s Neihu District, which can be reached by bus and then a roughly 10- to 20-minute walk. There’s one particularly unique spot here that uses an optical illusion to create the dramatic effect of almost tumbling off a cliff—looks incredibly exciting！

Winding through residential areas, vegetable plots, stone-paved trails, and large broadleaf forests, you’ll eventually come across a small temple dedicated to the Earth God—this is where the three trails of the Dragon Boat Rock hiking path converge. Heading right takes you onto the Kaishan Eye branch trail, the route to Dragon Boat Rock. After walking along a slightly sloped section of stacked rocks for a while, you’ll see the massive 293-meter-high white rock known as “Dragon Boat Rock.”

Take bus 小2 from Neihu and get off at Shijie Station; it’s about a one-kilometer walk to Dragon Boat Rock, making it very convenient in terms of transportation. Dragon Boat Rock sits on a ridgeline, with 90-degree cliffs on one side of the rock and 45-degree precipices on the other, offering the thrill of walking along a mountain ridge. Find the right spot, and you can create the visual effect of standing between towering cliffs. In addition, sitting on the massive white rock and taking in the lush green forest stretching as far as the eye can see provides an incredibly open and expansive view, with Lion Mountain, Zhongyong Mountain, and Kaigan Mountain all within sight. When shrouded in mist, it has a uniquely enchanting atmosphere.

Dragon Boat Rock is quite massive in size, resembling a stone boat, with mysterious inscriptions and paintings on its white surface. It’s considered a fairly easy destination that doesn’t require much effort to reach, yet offers scenery that’s just as beautiful as more famous spots—great value for the experience. Not far away are attractions like Baishi Lake and Neihu Strawberry Farm, so it’s recommended to tackle them all in one go and plan a one-day mountain adventure in Neihu.
