Taiwan’s tallest Christmas tree transforms into a chameleon lady — 5 outfits in rapid “makeover” mode

Taiwan’s tallest Christmas tree, located in New Taipei City, has turned into a real fashion chameleon? Standing at 35 meters tall and adorned with over 97,000 LED lights that can produce more than 65,000 color variations, one moment Santa Claus is soaring across the sky on his reindeer sleigh, and the next the scene shifts to a star-studded night sky.

As Christmas draws near, the New Taipei City Government has prepared five new outfits for the Christmas tree, moving beyond the traditional look. Starting now, every evening between 6pm and 10pm, the tree’s lighting show will include dynamic costume changes between light displays, keeping the experience fresh and exciting. This year, the city government has moved away from conventional decorative methods and instead used LED lights combined with cutting-edge technology and computer-programmed lighting controls to give the tree a high-tech feel. Various Christmas elements and geometric patterns take turns appearing on the tree, offering a new surprise every second.

With Christmas approaching, the classic Christmas tree look is naturally still part of the display. The organizers use light projections to “hang” items like candy canes, bells, ribbons, and reindeer ornaments on the tree. From 6pm to 10pm every evening, between the full light shows, the tree’s outfit changes every five minutes — shifting from gradient-lit romance to traditional warmth and charm, delivering a delightful variety of surprises.
