As spring brings blue-purple romance—not just wisteria flowers—April and May each year mark the best season to admire Chiayi’s one-and-only jacaranda tunnel, the only one of its kind in Taiwan. The sea of blue-purple blossoms creates an incredibly romantic atmosphere. This year, the local bloom is slightly later, with flowers only just beginning to open in mid-April. Travelers are encouraged to visit these next few weeks to witness Taiwan’s sole jacaranda tunnel.

Taiwan’s only jacaranda tunnel is located along the flood-prevention lane of Lushan Bridge in Yuinlinzi Community, Chiayi City. Stretching about 800 meters, the jacaranda trees planted on both sides of the road almost connect to form a natural tunnel. Blooming annually in April and May, it has become a hidden blooming gem for locals.

Not only are the blooming flowers beautiful, but the naturally fallen jacaranda petals also turn the road into a blue-purple canvas, resulting in a highly surreal scene. This has attracted many photography enthusiasts, who specifically visit Chiayi to capture the limited-time beauty of the jacaranda tunnel.
