Winter is the season for strawberries, and many strawberry enthusiasts are probably delighted lately as various strawberry-themed treats have hit the market. In Tainan, there’s a fusion restaurant that serves not only pasta and hot pot but also boasts an incredibly popular item — the Strawberry Volcano Ice. Not only is it served in an oversized hot pot-style bowl overflowing with bright red strawberries, but it also smokes dramatically when served.

▲The erupting Strawberry Volcano Ice.
Located on Section 1, Beimen Road, East District, Tainan, Fengcheng Fusion Dining is somewhat of an online sensation for its Strawberry Volcano Ice. The ice dessert is served in a massive charcoal-grilled hot pot bowl, topped with a generous heap of strawberries — a sight sure to make any strawberry lover scream with joy. Before serving, dry ice is placed in the bowl and then hot water is poured over it, causing an impressive smoke eruption for a spectacular visual effect.

▲All strawberries used are from Dahu.
The strawberries used in the Strawberry Volcano Ice are fresh from Dahu. Since strawberries are sensitive to water and impact, they are delivered fresh every morning, and handled with great care. Store staff mentioned that during peak business hours, customers might have to wait up to an hour to enjoy the dessert. As it's still early in the strawberry season, the strawberries used at the time of shooting weren’t very big and were slightly sour. However, staff noted that at their busiest times, they can sell 20–30 pots of Strawberry Volcano Ice per day.
One pot of Strawberry Volcano Ice costs 430 NTD. It’s quite a large portion, ideal for sharing among 4–5 people. But if you’re not in a big group or don’t want that much, you can opt for a smaller portion of strawberry ice — though it won’t be served in a hot pot bowl.

▲Fever Watermelon, milk flavor.
In addition to the Strawberry Volcano Ice, the Fever Watermelon at Fengcheng Fusion Dining is also highly popular. It’s made by blending a whole small round seedless watermelon into juice while keeping its full shape intact, with only one large and one small hole left — the larger one for a straw, and the smaller one used to inject various flavors (via syringe), such as fresh milk, lemon juice, mixed fruit juice, and “Xiao Mang” (a cocktail). As for how they manage to keep the watermelon intact while turning the inside into juice, the shop owner laughed and said, “That’s a secret.” Recommended way to enjoy: sip the original flavor first, then inject your chosen flavor, and finally cut the watermelon open to eat the fruit flesh once halfway consumed.
Fever Watermelon flavors: Milk – 150 NTD, Lemon Juice – 120 NTD, Severe Flavor (mixed fruit juice) – 180 NTD, Xiao Mang Flavor (vodka, watermelon liqueur, white rum) – 450 NTD.
