Watch the Sunrise at Er Liao, Tainan – Pay Attention to Traffic Control Times

After Christmas, marking the end of the year, the New Year’s atmosphere becomes increasingly lively. The “New Year’s Trilogy” jointly organized by the Tainan City Government, the Southwest Coast National Scenic Area Administration, and the Siraya National Scenic Area Administration is an annual signature New Year event eagerly anticipated by the public. Among them, the Er Liao Sunrise Welcoming Event will be themed around youth, celebrating a vibrant new year together with the community.

The Siraya Scenic Area Administration noted that although the Er Liao Sunrise Viewing Platform is located at a low altitude, its stunning ink-painting-like sunrise is highly favored by many visitors. This year marks the 6th edition of the “Er Liao Sunrise Welcoming” event, with “youth” as its central theme. The event invites the Nanxi Band, who have performed at various major music festivals, to deliver a rock performance, accompanying the public in welcoming the new year with energy.

In addition to the sunrise event, a local food pop-up market called the “Youth Carnival” will be set up in front of the viewing platform this year, selling hidden local delicacies from Zuozhen. This allows visitors to enjoy both physical and emotional warmth while waiting for the sunrise. Moreover, visitors who “like” the Siraya National Scenic Area Administration’s Facebook fan page on the day will receive a “Blessing Vajra Rope” from the Karmapa Kagyu Monastery in Zuozhen, limited to 500 pieces.

The Siraya Scenic Area Administration pointed out that this event will adopt a “one person, one ticket, ticket-required entry” management system for all attendees, regardless of age. Entry will not be permitted without a valid ticket, so the public is advised to bring their tickets — lost tickets will not be reissued. Drivers are also reminded to pay attention to traffic control sections and timings, which will be in effect from 00:00 on New Year’s Day until 10:00 the next morning.

The Siraya Scenic Area Administration also stated that this year’s event is expected to attract around 3,000 visitors. Approximately 400 car parking spaces and 400 motorcycle parking spaces will be provided in the event area, along with shuttle bus arrangements. The public is invited to seize this once-a-year opportunity to witness the New Year’s sunrise and immerse themselves in a golden blessing of youth.
