Another new Korean BBQ shop has just opened in Taipei Up!Lettuce wraps are a given at every place, but have you tried Korean BBQ paired with Vietnamese fresh spring rolls? Not only do they offer a dedicated grilling service, but they also help with cocktails, plus unlimited refills on side dishes to your heart’s content — truly perfect for modern group dining experiences!

The shop is located in an alley off Keelung Road, right in the prime foodie zone of Xinyi District. It’s just a 3-minute walk from Exit 1 of Taipei City Hall MRT Station, making it super convenient. However, if you’re driving or riding a bike, you’ll need to hunt for parking more carefully — there are many one-way streets around here, so it’s not the easiest place to park.

Although the shop has a fairly large space, all tables are for four or more people, and the seating is spaced quite far apart. So during peak dining hours, it’s very likely to be fully booked. We strongly recommend calling ahead to reserve a table before you come!

In celebration of the upcoming Christmas, the shop has already put up festive decorations — aka everyone’s favorite photo zones! For New Year’s Eve, there’s also a special event: book a table during the countdown period (11:30–2:00 AM), and groups of four will receive a complimentary bottle of champagne to ring in the new year happily! There are only seven tables available in total, so it’s really first-come, first-served. Those who are excited, hurry and make a reservation!

Menu at 《Woosan Korean BBQ》 as follows
The BBQ is divided into pork and beef sets, plus a special soy-marinated beef short rib option. If there’s a specific cut you want, you can also order it as an add-on. The rest of the à la carte items are mostly classic Korean restaurant staples — chances are you’ll find all your usual favorites here!

There’s also a wide variety of alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks available, including a few flavors I’d never seen before, which is sure to trigger some serious choice paralysis …

If you order both beer and soju together, the staff will put on a cocktail show, mixing them and then tapping the chopsticks to create a bubbly, fizzy visual spectacle!

The set meal includes a budae jjigae (army stew)
The broth is simmered with pork bones and vegetables, and the shop says no artificial seasonings are added. With ingredients like napa cabbage, kimchi, enoki mushrooms, rice cakes, luncheon meat, shrimp, instant noodles, and cheese, it’s pretty generous. The flavor isn’t overly rich, so it’s not too salty, making it a great match with the more intense flavors of the grilled meat.

The round grill plate is even more versatile — not only can you grill meat in the center, but you can also fry eggs, melt cheese, and grill kimchi/bean sprouts around the edges, making Korean BBQ a really fun experience

The fried egg is seasoned with broth and topped with ikura (salmon roe). When grilled to about 70% done, it has the best texture — the juicy inside carries the umami of the broth, and it’s absolutely delicious.

After grilling, the kimchi and bean sprouts become even crispier, and both are also unlimited refill to your heart’s content!

Beef set — 1890 TWD (for four people)
Includes beef wing flap, flat iron, brisket, and skirt steak, all using Choice-grade American beef.

First, the staff grilled for usthe flat iron beef. Because there’s a tendon running through the middle of the flat iron, they trim it during the grilling process — that’s the value of having a professional do it. We’d never pay attention to that if we were doing it ourselves! The flat iron has a firmer texture with some small sinews, making it a great match with kimchi and a dab of douban sauce.

Visiting 《Woosan Korean BBQ》 is a must to try their exclusive way of eating — instead of wrapping the meat in lettuce, they use Vietnamese spring rolls. You even have to dip and soften it with water yourself. Isn’t that super fun? The combination with grilled meat actually works surprisingly well. You’ve got to admit, the owner has great creativity!

Wing meat

Compared to flat iron steak, wing meat is much more tender and has a sweeter, fresher taste. We all preferred this cut anyway — after all, it’s also more expensive (no mistake about that)!

Skirt meat

Skirt meat has always been one of my favorite rare cuts, and I didn’t expect to find it at an affordable Korean BBQ place. It has a firm texture with a slightly unique offal flavor. Since there weren’t many pieces, everyone savored it with care.

Beef belly

Folks, have you ever seen such thick beef brisket? This isn’t pork belly, okay? The shop proudly claims it’s a solid 1.5 cm thick, made to let you enjoy thick-cut beef just as much. Thanks to the marbling, it’s still easy to bite even when cut thick. Grilling brings out the fat, and the surface gets slightly crispy — I personally really like it.

This time we were a group of six. We ordered a four-person beef set and a few additional Korean dishes, which pretty much rounded out the portion perfectly.

Tuna rice ball — 180 TWD

This is also a DIY-style dish. You mix the toppings and sauce together, then shape them into small rice balls. It’s both delicious and fun. The Korean-style mayonnaise is saltier than expected, but those who love strong flavors say adding garlic slices makes it even better.

Spicy stir-fried rice cakes — 180 TWD

A classic Korean dish, with a mild level of spice that’s not too intense, and a hint of sweetness that most people can enjoy. The texture of the Korean rice cakes and fish cakes is great, and they disappeared quickly as everyone took bites one after another.

Cheese fried chicken — 330 TWD

One serving of cheese fried chicken is quite generous — it’s recommended for around four people to share. The chicken itself is somewhat similar to Japanese-style fried chicken, with a thin crust that locks in the juices. Coated with cheese, it becomes rich and flavorful.

Seafood pancake — 250 TWD

The pancake is on the thicker side, filled with oysters, squid, and shrimp. Eaten with the sweet and sour sauce, it doesn’t have a floury taste — it’s flavorful and delicious.
