It’s still over a month until Mother’s Day — is it too early to make reservations now? If you think so, you may find it tough to book anywhere when the time comes to treat your wonderful mom to a nice meal. ETtoday reporters got a head start by inquiring about dining reservations at hotels and restaurants for Mother’s Day, and found that over 80% are almost fully booked. If you want to book a decent restaurant, you’ll need to move quickly!

Every year on Mother’s Day, it’s become somewhat of a tradition for people to reward their moms for their hard work — whether it’s by buying a cake or taking the whole family out to a nice restaurant for a delicious meal. Upscale hotels and restaurants offering refined dining are also a popular choice, and despite the average cost per person being at least around NT$1,000, many are still willing to spend the money to show their filial piety. But with over a month to go until Mother’s Day, what’s the current reservation situation? Xie Xinjie, PR director of Yunpin Hotel Sun Moon Lake, explained: “This year, at the same time as last year, reservations at our hotel’s restaurants were around 70–80% full. By Mother’s Day last year, they were all fully booked, and we’re very optimistic about this year as well!” Additionally, Yang Jiayi, PR manager of Junpin Hotel, noted that in previous years, restaurant bookings for Mother’s Day would be full by the end of April, reminding the public to call and reserve seats while there are still some available.

As for chain restaurants, Liu Mingru, PR manager of Hsin Yeh International Catering, also mentioned that reservations at their Japanese cuisine restaurant have reached 90% capacity, with even the week before Mother’s Day at 60% full. Meanwhile, private rooms at their Taiwanese cuisine restaurant are almost entirely booked, especially for lunch, while dinner is about 70% full.

Every year, whether it’s bakeries, F&B businesses, or even hotels and restaurants, the Mother’s Day period is sure to spark a battle for customers. In addition to launching special Mother’s Day promotions, limited seating often leads to a rush of reservations. Consumers looking to book more popular restaurants should definitely make their reservations early to avoid missing out.
