Taichung Fengjia Night Market’s Literary-Style Braised Delicacies: Choose from Over 80 Ingredients!

On cold days like this, nothing beats hot, steaming food!! Is there anyone out there who loves Taiwan’s street food “braised delicacies stalls” as much as I do?! XD Probably because of my half-mainlander genes, whenever my mom cooked noodles when I was little, there’d always be a big plate of braised delicacies on the table for us to feast on. When I went to college and lived near campus, there were even three to five braised delicacies stalls to choose from on a single street~

But I’m pretty picky—maybe all those years of eating out have spoiled my taste buds!! It’s even more obvious after starting work; there aren’t many braised delicacies stalls that really satisfy me these days XD. But this one in Fengjia Night Market—“Your Home My Home Braised Delicacies”—is one we often revisit!! It’s located at the intersection of “Wenhua Road” and “Fushang Alley,” very close to Chi Gui Fengjia.

The biggest reason I love this braised delicacies stall is the flavor of the broth!! The broth at “Your Home My Home Braised Delicacies” is the kind that won’t leave you feeling overly salty or greasy even after finishing the whole bowl!! Its unique herbal broth, accented with pickled mustard greens, plus their fennel-spicy sauce is simply divine!! Every time the two of us come here, we end up eating a whole big bowl before leaving satisfied :)

There are seriously so many delicious foods in Fengjia Night Market!! But for me, a Taichung local who’s lived here since college, I’ve seen how the food scene here rises and falls over time.
A shop that’s managed to stay open for five or even ten years—you can imagine how much it means to the “people of Taichung.” It’s definitely more than just a passing trend~

This “Your Home My Home Braised Delicacies” has been in Fengjia Night Market for over a decade!! And this year, they underwent a major renovation, becoming much more youthful and trendy—it can truly be called a literary-style braised delicacies stall now!! The environment is clean, and there are even two young, stylish chefs in the shop, making it feel like enjoying braised delicacies at a street stall is as delightful as sipping coffee~ ^___________^ /

A clean and comfortable environment naturally makes people like it, and for a braised delicacies stall, “Your Home My Home Braised Delicacies” is really modern!! The first thing you see when you look up is the menu, where every ingredient is displayed in black text on a yellow background. The prices for braised items, vegetables, meats, and noodles are clearly marked!! No need to worry about going over budget~

This time, I finally brought my camera to photograph this “Your Home My Home Braised Delicacies” that we often revisit. As soon as we got to the stall, my friend started picking ingredients—I could tell how hungry she was (actually, so was I XD

The variety of braised ingredients at “Your Home My Home Braised Delicacies” is seriously off the charts!! Not everything is displayed in the showcase, because for vegetables, you can just ask the owners for more~~ I remember seeing an introduction that said there are over 80 different ingredients. Besides the common braised options, there are so many unique, secret-recipe braised items that are super tasty!! Among them, the front leg pork shank, pig intestines, and quail eggs are our must-orders every time—we highly recommend giving them a try!

There are so many fresh vegetable options!! Whether you like mushrooms, root vegetables, or leafy greens, you can pick them yourself or just ask the owners. They also have meatballs, fish cakes, fish sausages, tofu sheets, dried tofu, frozen tofu, hot pot dumplings, rice sausages, and pig blood cakes filling up the entire counter... The specially pre-braised ingredients at “Your Home My Home Braised Delicacies” (the reddish-brown ones in the photo) are my personal favorite!! The braising flavor is just right—not too salty, very smooth and tasty

For staple carbs like noodles, glass noodles, shredded chicken noodles, and ramen, there are plenty of choices, all placed in a large metal cabinet!! You can just grab whatever you want~ ^__________^ / I personally love the texture of instant noodles when eating braised delicacies, especially with extra spice—it’s super delicious!! My friend occasionally goes for glass noodles since girls tend to care about calories XD

Also, “Your Home My Home Braised Delicacies” has a special “fennel-spicy flavor”!!! Highly recommended for friends who love spicy food like me—come here and give it a try. Because that unique numbing, spicy, and aromatic flavor is hard to find elsewhere. It’s super delicious~ ^~^

Every time, we just have to fill up a huge bowl to feel satisfied!! Although there are lots of foods in Fengjia, we still can’t help but pile our bowls high at “Your Home My Home Braised Delicacies” XD And eating heated braised delicacies in winter is truly a happy experience—all the ingredients are freshly blanched to order, and when they arrive steaming hot, it warms the heart~

“Your Home My Home Braised Delicacies” has very limited seating for dine-in—only four seats!! And these four seats are in a style we absolutely love!! What other braised delicacies stall looks this nice, with four bar stools facing a gray-blue wall... The wall features eye-catching illustrations and soothing green potted plants. Sitting here and enjoying braised delicacies really gives off the vibe of sipping coffee on the street ^______________^ /

Also, the braised delicacies at “Your Home My Home Braised Delicacies” for dine-in are served in “wooden tubs”! I have to say, the choice of serving vessel really adds to the appeal!! And the wooden tubs of braised delicacies that arrive at the table seem meticulously arranged—the ingredients are stacked so beautifully. Who says you can’t find class at a street food stall:

This time, we ordered a lot again!! We picked a few of our favorites to recommend to everyone. One absolute must-try is the “pre-braised” delicacies at “Your Home My Home Braised Delicacies.” Items like front leg pork shank, pig intestines, quail eggs, and pig ears are all great~ Here’s a sliced piece of “front leg pork shank”—the tender, bouncy meat is pre-braised then blanched, with each piece absorbing tons of the secret broth!! It’s fragrant, delicious, and so good to chew!!

The pig intestines also have a tender yet firm bite—they’re Q-textured without being rubbery, and they’re cleaned really well!! No fishy smell at all!! :) Quail eggs are my friend’s favorite—she grabs several every time. And the quail eggs at “Your Home My Home Braised Delicacies” aren’t plain white; they’re pre-braised, then blanched to order!! You can taste the sauce flavor inside and out~

The fish cake and fish sausage-like ingredients in the middle (the ones that wiggle)—those are also a favorite of my friend!! XD Every time we come to “Your Home My Home Braised Delicacies,” we order them, and every time, the texture is fresh and Q-textured, with the braising broth adding a rich aroma when drizzled on top!

Oh, and another reason we love “Your Home My Home Braised Delicacies” is their pickled mustard greens and pickled radishes—they’re spot-on—and you can also add their “special garlic paste”~
Garlic lovers will definitely understand—once you add that garlic paste, how could a whole bowl of braised delicacies ever feel like too much?! It’ll definitely get finished in no time XD

My absolute favorite among the hot pot ingredients is this one!!! Sturgeon slices~~~~ ^___________^ / I always add a portion whenever I go for hot pot, so when I see them in braised delicacies, I immediately toss them into my bowl. Plus, the braising broth at “Your Home My Home Braised Delicacies” pairs perfectly with them, so these sturgeon slices that absorb the broth so well are naturally incredibly delicious!! Does anyone else love this flavor as much as I do?!

The Q-textured squid balls with squid chunks, the green-and-white ??? strips—these are also familiar ingredients to us~~ And we especially love these ??? strips that look like they’re “tied with string.” When I was little, I didn’t like the sliced or block versions. These string-tied ones are super delicious!! And so flavorful!! :) When eating out, veggies are a must!! Green beans, broccoli, and enoki mushrooms are all super tasty~~ I have to say, the braising broth at “Your Home My Home Braised Delicacies” pairs perfectly with anything!! ^________^ /

This time, since my friend didn’t want to go straight for spicy, we asked the owner and got an extra bowl of “fennel-spicy sauce”!! :) Since I still wanted spice, I just brushed the ingredients in it to eat!

The special fennel-spicy sauce at “Your Home My Home Braised Delicacies” is really unique!! The aroma makes you keep taking bite after bite—it’s nothing like plain spiciness from other places~
It’s also because of this new flavor that we’ve been coming back so often lately!! Winter is the season for spice—you eat something spicy and fiery, and your body naturally warms up XDXD

Hehe, Prince Noodles served in an adorable wooden basin. Add a dash of anise-spiced spicy sauce—absolutely delicious together. The Q-textured noodles of Prince Noodles really pair well with this spicy kick. Every time I order a bowl for myself, I finish it and instantly want another one. I have to say, the sauce from “Your Home My Home Braised Delicacies” makes this bowl of Prince Noodles even more irresistible~ ^__________^ /

My friend ordered glass noodles that day, and you can clearly see how the brown braising sauce made them glisten!!! As soon as it was served hot, she immediately started grabbing it with her left hand and chopsticks with her right, popping it into her mouth. No need to worry about lacking flavor even without spice. The braising sauce from “Your Home My Home Braised Delicacies” is seriously top-notch :)

Life may seem monotonous, but the interesting and fresh moments are always emerging. Our lives are busy, but apart from all that busyness, we truly cherish the time we have—and we know we should treasure those “free moments”!

This place, “Your Home My Home Braised Delicacies,” is genuinely a “super trendy and hipster” braised snack specialty shop~~~ Gather your besties, bring your girlfriend, or hit up Fengjia with your squad—don’t forget this spot.
