Tourism Center / Taipei Report
As summer heat rolls in, the sweltering weather often makes people want to plunge into cool seawater or a swimming pool. Domestic water parks are gearing up to attract this wave of summer visitors. But among these water parks and beach destinations, which are the most popular?
A well-known domestic website recently held the “Top 10 Must-Visit Water Parks & Beaches in Taiwan PK,” with the voting period from May 1 to May 15. Netizens voted for the top 10 must-visit water parks and beaches for this summer. Among them, Lihpao Land’s “Mariana” at Rueifang in Taichung took first place. Meanwhile, the most popular summer beach broke previous expectations, with areas where beaches blend harmoniously with local natural landscapes being favored by netizens. This Summer’s Must-Visit Beach Ranking:
1st Place: Fulong Beach
Fulong Beach has long been a renowned beach destination in northern Taiwan. In addition to its rare golden sands, the Shuangxi River flows into the sea here, creating a stunning dual landscape of an inland river and the open ocean. The annual International Sand Sculpture Art Festival and Gongliao Ocean Music Festival are major international events that draw numerous domestic and international tourists.
2nd Place: Heping Island Beach
Heping Island Park (Heping Island Cape Paradise), reopened and renovated in 2012, features unique Taiwan coastal erosion landscapes and beautiful scenery that always attracts large numbers of visitors. It now offers well-planned water activity zones. Aside from enjoying beach recreation, you can also admire the stunning rocky shorelines and specially designed seawater swimming pools. While swimming in the clear waters, you can even spot small tropical fish swimming alongside you.
3rd Place: Sizihwan Beach
Famous for its sunset — one of Kaohsiung’s Eight Scenic Spots — and natural rock formations, Sizihwan Beach combines nearby historical landmarks with beachside sunny glasshouse cafes, making it a comprehensive leisure destination. With the easily accessible sunset waves and nearby palm-lined sandy shores, it's hailed as the most beautiful backyard garden of the harbor city. Couples can enjoy the setting sun on the beach in the evening, take in the captivating seascape, and soak up the summer atmosphere.
4th Place: Sunao Beach
Located at the southern end of Dulan Bay, Sunao Beach boasts pristine natural beauty and is the only golden sandy beach on Taiwan’s eastern coast. With clear, calm waters and fine sand, its intertidal zone features a richly ecologically diverse rocky shoreline. The beach is covered in soft, delicate sand, with a broad, flat terrain and crystal-clear water. Both the northern and southern ends of the bay offer abundant coral and fish resources underwater, and there is also a protected fishing area where visitors can get up close for an immersive experience.
5th Place: Penghu Qimei Beach
In 2012, Penghu joined the organization for the world’s most beautiful beaches. Qimei Beach, made up of coral and shell fragments, features white sands stretching over 1 kilometer, along with wind-blown sand dune landscapes. It was once a fishing ground where locals used to haul nets, and is now praised by tourists from around the world as comparable to Hawaii’s Waikiki Beach. It is considered the beach with the best natural conditions on Penghu Main Island.
