Hong Kong Disneyland’s new attraction “Mystic Point,” which opened just on May 16, experienced issues within three days of its launch. According to Hong Kong’s Ming Pao newspaper, on May 19, one of the electromagnetic vehicles suddenly triggered a stop signal, delaying the ride by approximately one hour and affecting over a hundred visitors. Fortunately, no injuries were reported.

Ming Pao reported that a spokesperson for Hong Kong Disneyland confirmed that around 4 p.m. on May 19, one of the electromagnetic vehicles at the “Mystic Point” attraction suddenly activated a stop signal. The park immediately evacuated the hundreds of guests using the ride, and the entire facility was suspended for about an hour. Disney stated that the electromagnetic vehicles require some time for fine-tuning and adaptation during the initial phase, and such occurrences are normal and do not affect overall safety. However, guests whose ride was interrupted expressed disappointment.

“Mystic Point” is a globally unique attraction by Hong Kong Disneyland and is considered the most complex mechanical ride in Disney history. It can accommodate 32 trackless electromagnetic cars traveling at speeds of 4 km/h, allowing up to 192 guests to enjoy 11 themed scenes simultaneously.

In recent years, Hong Kong Disneyland has launched several new themed areas. In November 2011, “Toy Story Land” opened, followed by “Grizzly Gulch” in July 2012, and in 2013, “Mystic Point” was unveiled as the final addition to the expansion project.
