The New Days, located in Nanfang’ao, Yilan, features rooms without TVs and doesn’t serve breakfast. The entire inn is dominated by shades of grey and white — pure white bedsheets, cement walls, and white tiles — offering an uncluttered, carefree vibe that leaves a lasting impression on guests.

The New Days, a large homestay located next to the bustling Nanfang’ao Fishing Port in Yilan, has a minimalist exterior design that might go unnoticed if you’re just driving by. The ground floor of The New Days is designed as an “about:” exhibition space that hosts art and culture exhibitions on a rotating basis. It also doubles as a café where travelers can sip coffee by the window and watch the hustle and bustle of the street — a unique way to experience life in Nanfang’ao.

The New Days painted the interior of the old apartment pure white, and the central skylight fills the space with natural daylight during the day, creating a warm and comfortable atmosphere. The homestay offers various room types, including small double rooms, medium double rooms, and larger doubles, triples, and quadruples. Room sizes vary, but the interior décor remains largely similar. All rooms feature uniformly pure white bedsheets, faux exposed-concrete cement walls, and simple pendant lights. The bathrooms are designed with clean, elegant white marble tiles, offering guests a comfortable and relaxing stay.

In its fan page introduction, The New Days writes, “The inside of the inn is very basic — no TV, no breakfast. But the outside is rich — with fishing boats and captains.” Unlike homestays that emphasize offering everything, The New Days provides only essential guest amenities in its rooms: toiletries, towels, a hairdryer, and water.
